Al menos 20 personas murieron ahogadas el pasado sábado debido a que el autobús en el que se trasladaban fue arrastrado por una fuerte corriente de agua del río Enziu en la localidad de Kitui, en Kenia.

Las víctimas pertenecían al coro de una iglesia y tenían pautado cantar en una ceremonia en un templo de dicha ciudad, ubicada a 130 kilómetros al este de Nairobi (capital de Kenia).
Un total de 17 personas, entre ellos cuatro menores de edad, fueron rescatados con vida, así lo informó la gobernadora de Kitui, Charity Ngilu.
“Esta tarde (sábado) la tragedia ha golpeado al condado de Kitui”, escribió en Twitter la funcionaria.
Las operaciones de rescate fueron realizadas por la Cruz Roja de Kenia y las organizaciones de seguridad.
